Ice festival in Argentina

    For one, two or three consecutive weekends in June or July is performed in El Calafate Ice Festival .
The stage of the Ice Festival is the Round Bay , the largest area of ​​natural skating in South America , with an area of ​​4 km long and 3 km wide and its depth ranges from 2 to 40 meters at least part deep .
True to its name in honor of this holiday is ice skating and ice hockey, torchlight parade , sleds , sculptures , a party of Chueca , popular sport and very characteristic of the area .
In the Bahia Redonda track holding ice hockey match and around the track display is made sleds . The main activity is ice skating , of which there are clinics and demonstrations and the possibility that any person who concur to scroll the track skating party , even if it means , for many, more than one fall . The Club Andino , linked to the organization of this event , has skates available for rent.
Another activity of the festival is the parade with torches and flags in Redonda Bay . As at the feast of these characteristics in a musical show that will take the stage from local and national musicians and street musicians and jugglers presentation is prepared. On the other hand sculptors and artists of the region make ice sculptures .
Apart from the 2009 painting and poetry contests , hockey and sledding competitions , exhibitions of model airplanes , snow sculptures , the magical presence of clowns with teaching and artistic makeup including 1st Marathon Ice were added.
2013 Edition of the Festival
This time the festival was held from 28 to 30 June 2013 and had as main stage Redonda Bay of Lake Argentino, as in previous editions.
In those three days the social and cultural, recreational sports , which ended with the closure in the Multipurpose Room , located next to the local casino concentrated. This time a competition of ” cake Calafate ” open to everyone who wants to participate and produce a cake using this product in the area was conducted.
